It is very easy to find original and appealing things to do in Ibiza with children during a holiday or a getaway, either during the summer or in the low season. The great variety of beaches and natural areas, the mild temperature of the sea during six months of the year and the wide range of leisure companies and exhibition areas mean families with children of all ages can have fun all year round.

There are outdoor activities, some to enjoy in the springtime, and lots of recreational activities, many of them suitable for children and teenagers. In the following selection of family activities, you are sure to find more than one option that fits in with your travel dates and suits your tastes.

Given the safe conditions of many of the island's beaches, one of your best options is to learn or practise this sport involving a surfboard. There is a wide range of companies offering this experience, such as Sup Yoga Ibiza, a company affiliated with the Ibiza Family Moments label.

  1. Treetop adventure

In Cala Pada you'll find the only zip-line and treetop adventure park on the island, set in a pine forest 100 metres from the coast. This attraction for children and teenagers offers three different routes according to age: 3 to 5 years old, over 6 years old and over 11 years old.

  1. Learn to scuba dive

During a holiday on Ibiza you can take the PADI scuba diving initiation course, an experience that that is particularly appealing to teenagers. There are diving schools in all the main tourist resorts on the island. And if you already have the qualification, you can choose from numerous routes of varying levels of difficulty to discover the hidden treasures that await you under the sea.

There is no summer without fun and laughter in the sea! For example, the classic water recreation activities can be enjoyed on the beach of s'Arenal (Sant Antoni) and on the beach of Santa Eulària (Santa Eulària): ski bus, banana bus, ringo, jet ski, water skiing, parasailing, etc. And for a more leisurely activity, how about a trip on a glass-bottomed boat?

  1. Explore the interior of Ibiza on a tourist train 

Children love tourist trains, a great way to discover the island's attractions while you learn about Ibiza's history, traditions and legends. You can hop on these comfortable vehicles in Sant Antoni, Santa Eulària, Es Canar and Portinatx to see the island from a different perspective and at a different pace.

  1. Lose track of time at a hippy market 

During the summer months, virtually all the towns and tourist resorts hold hippy and craft markets. Most of them open in the early evening, but you'll also find them running all day, just in the morning or even at night, so it's easy to find a hippy market to browse whenever you feel like it! Many of them offer children's activities, such as face painting, games, dance activities and costume workshops, among others.

  1. Visit an organic farm

On Ibiza you will find several farms and agricultural estates open to the public. Here you can learn about life in the Ibizan countryside in an entertaining way: get to know the local breeds and varieties, stroll through a vegetable garden, taste typical products, take part in a cookery workshop, etc.

  1.  Visit de Can Marçà Cave 

This visit will not only take you to the north of Ibiza and its virtually unspoilt landscape but will also show you the effects of time and water erosion in this karst cave next to Port de Sant Miquel, a place where you will discover geological curiosities and legends about pirates and smugglers.

  1. On the trail of a goblin

The River Walk is an urban trail suitable for all ages that will introduce you to the heritage of the town of Santa Eulària through a self-guided tour of just over 3 km. And who will you follow? The walk will take you in the footsteps of a fameliar, the greediest goblin in Ibizan popular mythology, who will pop up to tell you interesting facts and information about the different sites along the route.

Medieval Ibiza

On the second weekend in May, Dalt Vila and the neighbourhood of La Marina are transformed into a large medieval market with shows and dances, live music, theatre, games and children's activities that will keep you entertained for hours on end. At its stalls you will find crafts, wooden toys, sweets and treats, culinary specialities from all over the country, handmade cosmetics, street food, etc. A weekend to be remembered!

Barruguet Family Theatre

The most popular children's entertainment event on the island of Ibiza is held on the last weekend in May in the town of Santa Eulària. A fabulous cultural event that is well worth a family getaway and which every year includes free and paying performances by around twenty national and international companies: acrobatics, street theatre, puppets, storytelling, dance, play installations, magic, etc. Most of the performances are based on the use of mime and music, so they can be understood by the audience regardless of the language they speak.
